Well I got a "question" for you. Cops are needed to respond to any call where others' safety might be put in danger. Just who would make the determination that this "neurodvergent" individual is not a threat to anybody and that only a social worker be dispatched, Mr. Genius?

Maybe, except that's generally not money that comes out of a police department's budget so it's not technically "defunding the police".

Most social workers I've met wouldn't have a clue what to do in many of these situations. Social workers serve a purpose but showing up to a call when people are ready to kill each other isn't it.
