The best combo for me is rain on the south shore (no shoveling) with snow in northern New England. I was at Killington and Pico this weekend and you guys finally got some snow. The locals I spoke to seemed relieved.

I didn't vote in the poll because I honestly don't think that Winter sucks in general. Is it my favorite season? No. But I don't think it sucks. It s a time to slow down, stay cozy. Sleep with a lot of blankets, eat warm, comforting food. Concentrate on a different workout. Hike in the snow, catch up on TV shows/series/movies I may have missed. Read lots of books. Drink hot cider or chai tea in the evenings. Winter has value to me.

That all said, I can't say that the gloominess of the past couple of weeks has bothered me yet. But it probably will if it lasts indefinitely. I am vastly more likely to get out for walks when the sun is out for sure, and it does generally improve my mood. But I feel okay at the moment.

The lack of snow has stunk. I've had to drive significantly north a good chunk of weekends.

Vermont had a great start with a dump of snow back in Mid-December, but it was pretty rough between then and now. We were actually at Killington the weekend before this past one and it wasn't great (in spite of all of temps being low enough to make some snow). There's a sigh of relief in Northern New England now with a little bit of snow this past weekend and a forecast for more snow and cold temps to come. My fiancée's family lives in the Mad River Valley and are frustrated with the lack of snow. It's a different attitude than I'm used to here in the Boston area where most people don't want it.

Agree. I'd like one storm 20+ inches that shuts everything down for a couple of days and that's it. Then 70 degrees in March.

I like snow too, but in manageable amounts. I don't like tons of it.

I'd be happy with 6-8 inches of snow. I don't need a foot. When we got a storm every weekend years ago driving was difficult because you could not see when taking a turn the mounds where so high it made driving difficult to see .

Yes, so far we have gotten off easy regarding the snow. Of course it's not until mid-March that things usually have eased up. If I am on my game, I can normally be getting work done in the garden the last 2 weeks in March.

I am sure we won't escape big dumps entirely, but if this is still considered a light snowfall winter when April rolls around - I'll be very happy!

Got to use the snowblower. I'm happy now. Bring on spring.

If it's sun hours you seek, check out this USA map of peak sun hours, averaged over a year.

Seattle and Portland have fewer hours of sun than Massachusetts.
