Friday night is supposed to go down to -8F in Newburyport - that's about as cold as it gets here as far as I can recall - the minus single digits is usually the coldest night of the year. High Saturday afternoon is +15F. But then by Sunday afternoon, high is +43F, and the next few days have a high in the 40s forecasted too, so it won't last long. It won't be one of those extended deep freeze "Polar Vortex" events that can bring deep cold for a week or more. Again, getting away relatively easy so far this winter.

Agree. Much ado for a freakin' 36-hr event.

Absolutely. I bought all the ingredients for a pot of chili. I'm going to stay hunkered down inside, watching Netflix with homemade chili simmering on the stove and dogs snoring on the couch.

2 summers ago was a monsoon of a spring/summer. I was mowing my lawn twice a week to keep up with it.

Last summer it was hay.

Would like something a bit more in the middle this year.

Quite a few power outages already - brutal in this cold. A test for Rhode Island Energy? Winds have calmed down a bit for now where I am fortunately - so hopefully they can restore (those poor workers out there!)

Two sparrows come to my patio roof to rest every evening.
Tonight only one came. Probably one got lost in the cold wind.
