Pro chord here and always will be. I don't watch CNN or any of the cable news shows but there is plenty of good stuff. We DVR most everything we want to watch so we can avoid commercials. I won't watch TV any other way and you can't do that by streaming. I enjoy being able to watch a ton of sports and will never give that up. It also so much faster than streaming, whenever we use an app we get frustrated because, at least on our system, every single app drags when cable TV works much faster.

I got rid of Cable-Satellite in 2017 and had YouTube TV for a few months in 2018, but decided I didn't watch it enough to keep it and then they raised the price of it. I think regular YouTube, Prime Video, and HD Broadcast TV are enough for me.

I'm endlessly amused in my own family and neighborhood when they claim they "stuck it to the cable man" and use just streaming services - when the "streaming" itself is supplied through the very same cable, from the very same company. Yup, you sure showed them!

I use Sling for local news. Much like you, antennas don’t work where I live. Locast was a great option while it lasted, but I don’t think anything similar will be coming any time soon.

Sports. Local sports have moved almost exclusively to cable. In the 80s and before, I could watch a local baseball or hockey game on a broadcast station, but now they're all on the local sports-only cable channel. There's been some flirting with streaming services for sports, but it's not widespread yet.

I cut the cable back in 2020. I thought I was going to miss it, but three years later and I don't. I have subscriptions to Netflix and Apple TV. I watch local broadcast HD TV thru the rabbit ears antenna, and YouTube covers all the up to date news. I never watched but a very few channels on cable TV anyway. It certainly is not worth $100-$150 a month, just to be forced to support the 100 channels that I'll never ever watch anyway..

Fair enough on sports and news. I usually bounce between different subscription services (Netflix/ Amazon/ Disney/ apple/ hbo etc.). Keep one service at a time; catch up with shows then cancel and move on to next. Rinse and repeat.

I don’t watch that many sports and news, I usually get it from online. But I can definitely see the appeal of cable if someone wants to get border coverage.

My husband likes to scroll the channels. So I've been hesitant to cancel our cable package. But I'm getting him hooked on streaming. We have an antenna for the local channels & then stream various services as we want to catch up on shows or see a movie.

Not having cable doesn't mean not watching the shows on cable. It just means you stream them.

That was why we were so hooked on cable. NHL Center Ice is a drug that is hard to kick.
