I have heard this explanation b4. I do not agree with your post.
i do not believe that. i have known too many impoverished christians that did not rape or murder. i believe ungodliness is the root of all violent crime.
I can see your point of view and I agree with you about the rape and violent crime. However I think the poster you were replying to was more referring to "desperate people do desperate things" mentality. Which is a point I can also see. If there is a parent out there who can not get food or medicine for their child, they may feel justified in holding up a store to get it. I am not saying it is right, just saying I can understand it.

I think drugs are the number one reason for crime.

I've seen a ton of "christians" who rape and murder too. You can believe what you want, but the fact is that crime exists where poverty exists. The most dangerous cities in the country are also the poorest. You don't see crime like that in wealthy areas of the country. Religion or not. I think it's a shame that people think going to church is going to solve problems like this. There need to be realistic answers to the problem; Memphis is a VERY christian city, yet we have a ton of crime; you see criminals all the time who go to church and claim to be very 'godly.'

very good point. does your body being in a church for 2 hours, make you a good person and a christian? i would say not. does being rich make you a good person or living in a nice house? i would say not. i know a lot of dirtbags that got money. nailing them is a lot harder than nailing a poor man. same game, different set of clothes.
again when i say "christian" i am not talkin about church membership or neighborhood. money does not make you a good person, god does that.
did we get on the same page or little closer? if so i like that.
