I just increased my dosage of Lexapro to 30mg/day per my M.D.
I've noticed at this dosage, I feel better, but worry that perhaps it is more than the normal dosage for most people. The periods of sadness and depression and fatigue are gone. I just feel better.

Is anyone else on Lexapro? How does it make you feel ... ?

OP, why did they increase your dosage, were you not feeling a difference at a lower dose? How did you feel taking 20 mgs? I think its always best to take the lowest effective amount. In some studies they claim there isn't much difference in effectiveness between 10 and 20 mgs. But its a very individual thing so to me the studies don't really matter. If 20 didn't work for you and 30 does then I wouldn't feel uncomfortable staying on that dose.

They kept increasing my dose, as I'm one of those treatment resistant types. I was up to 40 mgs a day. But it never worked on me, neither did its younger brother, Celexa. How it made me feel, tired and I felt a kinda who cares attitude, so it wasn't good on my already lacking motivation. But again it didn't work well on me. If its helping I wouldn't be concerned about the dose. You might try 25 mgs and see if you feel the same on a bit lesser dose. You are lucky you found something that helps, I've had severe depression, anxiety and PTSD for many years and never found a med that works well.

I had been on 10mg, than 20mg and really never felt the drug was effective. When the dosage went to 30mg, I felt the difference and I felt much better. If he had not increased the dosage, I was going to recommend changing the drug to something else that would work.

I'm currently on a 10 mg dosage, which seems to be a good "maintenance dose" for me. In the past, I've increased it in the winter (per doctor) to 20 mg, which was effective, but have always been able to go back to 10 mg when the weather improves. Lately, our winters have been milder so I've been able to stay on 10. The higher dose did tend to make me more tired though.

I've had trials on several other antidepressants prior to Lexapro, but this drug seems to work best for me without major side effects. Sometimes it takes awhile to find one that is effective for you.

i am currently on 5mg per day, all the way down from 20mg. i thought i could wean off but sadly, i will be going back up to 10mg at my next dr appt. just can' get through the WDs and the mood swings. even my wife said that i was
"at my best" when i was on 10mg. i noticed that when i first started on 10 i felt great for a while, then it calmed down and i started feeling ****ty again. bumped up to 20, and the same thing, was great for a few weeks then slowly back to normal. wish i never started it.

I wish I didn't have to be on it either. But, just like when I was on Paxil..... I feel better on it than off it. It's just me and how my body works. The 30mg of Lexapro seems to be ok right now for me. The 20mg/day did nothing for me.

I'm on 20mg/day. It doesn't really do much for me.

How does it affect your libido and your performance?

Doesn't do anything for me. My girlfriend and I are very active still (I've been on it for the past 2 months and still am good for 4 times a week).
