I've stayed in motels while traveling and there were a dozen or so federales black trucks/SUVs in the parking lot. Big secret. Same with the Army when they are traveling. It's hard to disguise those Army Humvees in motel and restaurant parking lots.
Perhaps where you are, not along the border. Within 50 miles of my home 5 police were killed in one shootout and almost every Police Chief was assasinated. So keep laughing the Police where I am are not.

Last night in Chapala there was a shoot out with an estimated one thousand rounds fired. Three bad guys with one dressed as a cop were killed. The two who were killed actually did it to themselves. They accidentally detonated a grenade that was in their truck with them. Boom. We don't know who killed the fake cop yet. If it takes one thousand rounds to kill one person, there probably isn't much to worry about. It did keep the gringos up and frightened. Luckily I'm several miles away.

A few months ago, rival drug gangs were in another shoot out in Chapala and hundreds of rounds were fired but no one was injured. One gang's kidnap victim did free himself after the noise stopped.

Where were the cops? Watching for the most part. Last night the federales and neighboring police showed up to help and everyone searched for three bad guys who got away.

I think the bad guys know where the cops are. They know where the mayors and chiefs live. To close a thread because you think the thread is tipping off the cartels is funny.

I wonder how many cartel members read these posts?

I was a wrong that the bad guys exploded a grenade in their truck killing themselves. This report says they threw a grenade and accidentally fell on it.

Why take a chance that cops can be killed when these morons are so good at killing themselves off? The cops can stand back and watch. A thousand rounds fired from large caliber weapons and the idiots only killed themselves. These guys certainly couldn't hunt for food if they had to.
