If you live close to Algodones it may be a good place for you to go to find a dentist, but it's really not an enjoyable place to visit. If you don't live close to Algodones, there are better places for you to go to find a dentist in Mexico. If you can find a dentist located in a nice place in Mexico, why not go there. This site has some information that might help you out - Mexico Tourism for Dental Treatment
I live in Phoenix and went to the Dentist today and with AmeriPlan which is a discount and not an insurance they want about $10,000 and get this $2,000 to clean my teeth but with AmeriPlan it's only $1,250. I got a printout of my xrays and don't know if I need a digital copy. I'm retired and I don't have insurance so I am thinking of going to Algodones for my dental work but I know know anything about it.
Though we are some months after the initial question was asked, and considering the discussion has been reactivated by recent comments:
I want to say that the original poster seemed confused, to me. $10,000 to do what? And someone said they'd charge him/her $2,000 to clean teeth?
Here's a link to Dental costs under the OPs plan, according to the AmeriPlan website: AmeriPlan USA®
Thanks.

Reason: Correction
Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic/ Dental Maya located in Plaza las Americas shopping mall, Cancun Mexico.
Global t.v. b.c. Canada profiled this clinic in a three part segment on dental tourism. Ex-patients returning home with botched dental work caught the attention of the Dental Association of Canada along with the specialists doing corrective surgeries. This maybe of interest for those shopping for a dental clinic in Mexico and could help them choose more carefully.
Are the Americans who are having dental work done in Mexico uninsured? B/c I mean I get that it's probably cheaper in Mexico then it is here...but if you have insurance here in America...why would you go to Mexico to have work done and pay out of pocket whereas here insurance covers most (if not all) of it?
I've never have any procedures done other than a 6-month routine check-up and cleaning, but my co-pay is only like $30.
Almost all expensive procedures like root canals, crowns and bridges are less in Mexico even with insurance. The co-pay on most of the more expensive items is 50%. If someone is getting implants it is far cheaper than in the U.S. and generally people are more pleased with their Mexican dentist than dentists in the U.S.
My experience has been tha dentists in Mexico offer quality of care less than we recieve in Mexico. And, sometimes, the costs in Mexico are more. Though, for the uninsured ... truly poor people .... living close to the USA / Mexico border ... services in Mexico may make sense. It's not that those services will be better ... but they may be more affordable.

What's the scoop?
The scoop is that you have no experience with major procedures. All of the U.S. dental "insurance" plans I've had for the last 15 years cover "major" things like crowns and bridges at 50%, with an annual benefit cap of $1000. With crowns going for about $1000 now that's $500 out of pocket PLUS the premiums you may have paid. I can get a crown in Mexico for $250. And overall I've been treated better by Mexican dentists than U.S. dentists.
Can say that with Mexican Dentists I have had two experiences of sorts.
First was from Living in Mexico City. He was a friend and had a small practice from a converted garage in his family home. ..was always going to the Hospital in his work needs . Did not have much in equipment. He was young and a majority of his patients were women...you can guess why.
On the other hand now being in Baja have visited a local woman Dentist with a good reputation and she has done good work for me. Very reasonable prices based upon the local economy.
One thing that I noticed compared to the Dentists in the US is the lack of pushing for more dental work needs. You go in with a toothache etc and they will fix that problem giving the up front price after the initial inspection. I literally had to ask questions about any future needs that bothered me...no problems at this point she said....still I wonder.
25 yrs ago a Dentist in the US wanted to do a bone implant for $3000 at that time. Today I'm 80 and still doing fine w/o any implant...saved $3000...lot higher today I'm sure.
Just a small comparison.
