I grew up in Ohio and do not miss the cold at all. I do have to admit that on Thanksgiving and Christmas it just seems to warm to sit down and eat a huge feast of turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy when it's 80 degrees outside...........;-)

I couldn't deal with snow or lots of ice either. The Southern states that get the change of seasons without all that snow have it pretty good to help put one in the holiday spirit. When its 80 degrees and you are in shorts on Christmas Day here in South Florida it's not the same when you can put on a scarf and a long sleeve shirt. The people up north may be jealous, but when you actually are here it's not the same.

Even when it comes to trick or treating for the kids, its not like living in certain areas up north, like in certain parts of Philadelphia,NJ or Boston even, a lot of places in Miami are gated communities, its not like a block of neighborhoods, like the same look that the actually real Halloween movie set up had, which that house is located in California, and it resembles those old style colonial Gothic looking houses that exist all over areas in Pennsylvania,NJ and Boston and of course certain places in nyc, they have that haunting feel to them, and IM sorry but you can love summer all you want, but fall weather is the best, not to hot,not to cold, and the look of the trees, the look of the sky and the smell in the air, nothing beats that, you can have summer all year round if you want go ahead,I am not hating at all...

I have no idea why so many of you treat the winters in certain states as if you live in the arctic or in Alaska, acting as if snow is permanent. I'm not for cold, or hot,IM for change and not Obamas type change lol,but change of seasons and everyday being different, not having weather that's stuck on stupid.........

I agree but - it gets hellacold in NY - I'm talking highs of 19 are common with wind chill's of -2 - that just isn't fun - I don't love how long the heat lasts here but I'll take it over how long the winters in NY last - yuck - I would love a 2 month winter and 2 month summer with a 4 month spring and 4 month fall - that is the PERFECT weather for me - wooooo!

To me the folks up in some parts of the North get the worst of the Winter and Summer. I can't tell you how many times the national news was reporting highes up near 100 degrees plus in the summer and then you have to deal with the bitter cold and snow in the winter. In Florida this summer I don't think we ever got out of the mid 90's. I know we were no where near 100.....I recently moved here from Jacksonville, FL and before that Columbia, SC and I can tell you the summers in Miami are far more tollerable than either of those places..........especially Columbia, SC........that place was miserable....

I could deal with the summer here better than NY because there are more resources to cool off than in NY, I would figure it to be the same in SC though - don't all the communities have pools? I feel like anywhere outside of NYC - summer is so much more enjoyable because of the activities available to cool off. NYC summers are great accept for that - the life of the city can not be matched but damn I need a pool closer than 1 hour away and one that doesn't have every rugrat from every crevice in it LOL!

Certainly not the Arctic, just very different from here. When you live in a place where the temperature hardly dips below 75 during the day, spending the better part of 6 months below 40 degrees is going to be a bit of a shock.

We have been pretty warm usually on Christmas. The cold fronts don't seem to really start till January, and that cool air doesn't usually last. And still we are only in the 70s usually. The Almanac says it going to be a cold and rainy winter, so who knows. These were the temps the last few years, not really holiday spirit temps.

Last Christmas it was 83 degrees
2008 Christmas it was 81 degrees
2007 Christmas it was 77 degrees
2006 Christmas it was 83 degrees
2005 Christmas it was 79 degrees

SFL I agree the people in the North do get the worst of both, but they can get a pretty Fall and a short spring if they get one.
