Cuban cooking combines these cuisines to produce a very tasty, flavor rich, unique style of combining of recipes and ingredients, cooking and serving these treats.

Typical Cuban foods include black beans, white rice, yellow rice, citrus marinades, garlic, and fried sliced banana (plantain). Olive oil and garlic marinades are often used as sauces. In the spice department we see the popular Cumin, Cayenne, Coriander (Cilantro), Meat is often prepared roasted and in a "creola" style marinade.

In Cuba and in Cuban food, as it was and as it is, there are two things that are not often seen: creams and milk products and cheeses in heavy sauces. These products, popular in Europe and North America, are expensive to purchase and often difficult to store in Cuba. Pork and chicken are relatively plentiful, fresh and inexpensive.

La Carretta is cuban fast food - try Las Vegas or Havana Harrys.

Rio Cristal on Bird Rd (SW 40 St) I've been eating there for almost 33 years! The flan is the BEST (not cheap, but the best I've ever had!)

Rio Cristal - Miami, FL

Excellent reviews on Yelp... can't believe I've never been! I'll have to try it sometime soon.

Wow - I had forgotten about this place. Used to go there years ago, will have to venture back. The last couple of times I went to Versailles the food wasn't what it used to be. The La Carreta across the street was much better. The La Carreta on Kendall Dr. is pretty bad and Havana Harry's was pretty good.

There is a place on 8th street close to Ponce de Leon. it's a small place right on the corner. I only went there once but I still remember loving the food.
If hole in the wall is your thing, then I suggest walking into the first hole in the wall you see and eat there.

When I am sick, I always get La Carreta's chicken soup, it's really good.
