There will still always be people who need to take a cab or shuttle due to time constraints, baggage, destination not convenient to a train station, ect, as well as many who would balk at taking any public transportation at all. When you get out of the terminal in cities with airport transit connections, like NYC, San Fran, Chicago, you'll still see plenty of people catching cabs and arriving in cabs.
Exactly.

I remember reading on Wikipedia that the AirTrain (which connects JFK Airport to Jamaica, where there are a bunch of subway/commuter rail trains to Manhattan) only carried something like 11% of the airport passengers.

Say another 20% are taking the direct buses to Manhattan and another couple of percent are taking the city buses to reach the subway (or they happen to live in an area directly on one of those routes), and you're only talking about a third of the passengers taking any form of public transportation to the airport, and this is in a city known for its mass transit. I'm sure some passengers would switch to MetroRail (Keep in mind that you'd probably have to transfer at Government Center, which would discourage riders), but the majority would still take taxis.

Some dump man, wow!!!, I don't think I can stand to look at this place.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have to agree with Doggiebus that the Taxi Unions had something to do with metrorail to not be built. People who have cars will keep on using them regardless of metrorail hooking up with the beach.
Yuck, not the moving picture ripped from some developer's ad, set to disgusting ghetto beats. Now you made me depressed thinking of Miami Beach again.
