That doesn't matter though... There are only a few white collared positions where knowing Spanish might be essential. Like communicating with workers on a factory floor, or landscaping/agricultural, but that is neither high tech nor white collar work. Fast food restaurants might have a need for a gringo who speaks Spanish now and then... Execpt for Miami, where virtually all office/white collar jobs require one to to not only Speak Spanish, but be Hispanic, in order to maintain sanity.

Anita and others taught me Spanish, I learned it real quick down there! I already had a base of Spanish 1 through 4 from high school. If you could only hear my accent... 100% Cuban. In Mexico they are convinced that I am Cuban, or at least part. When I tell them that I am a gringo "solamente" they think I am lying to them.

. I was only pointing out the importance of speak more than one language, and in the case of the US, the spanish is in its momentum. Maybe tomorrow it's portuguesse, chinesse, or german again. But at the end of the road, the english language will always be the de facto language of the US.

You are right! I lived there for 5 years and I could not take it anymore. . I was only pointing out the importance of speak more than one language, and in the case of the US, the spanish is in its momentum. Maybe tomorrow it's portuguesse, chinesse, or german again. But at the end of the road, the english language will always be the de facto language of the US.
