The same could be said for places like Houston and Dallas though.

All the central and southern FL cities (Tampa, Orlando, and especially Miami) cannot be classified as southern. These cities are full of Caribbean/Latin American transplants, as well as people from the Midwest and Northeast.

I disagree, those cities really are southern in their overall orientation, even though they may be very diverse.

I tend to think of Houston and Dallas more culturally southern than Miami.

OK, but culturally those cities offer more besides southern culture. You guys are being a little hypocritically about this.

It is geographically, but not culturally.

There are more Americans and southern people in Houston and Dallas than in Miami... There was just something put out about making Spanish the primary language in Miami. Because Latin culture has taken over..

How can Miami not be a southern city you can’t be part of the continental US and be lower than the American south it doesn’t make sense. Then American south isn’t monolithic so anyone brings up Caribbean influence it‘s pointless. What does Raleigh and New Orleans have in common that makes Miami not part of the south it doesn’t make sense. it’s 2010 people.
