Montford Point Marines - Corporal Arvin L. Ghazlo demonstrates to a bayonet class a technique for disarming the
enemy. Breaking a tradition of 167 years, the U.S. Marine Corps started enlisting blacks on June 1st, 1942. The first
class of 1,200 black volunteers began their training three months later as members of the 51st Composite Defense
Battalion at Montford Point, a section of the 200-square-miles Marine Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina Ghazlo was
once a teacher of judo to the Georgia State Police.

Txmf Celebrates American Heroes - Hundreds of spectators look onto the battlefield where the Living History
Detachment of 36th Infantry Division reenacted the Battle of Montelimar at the Texas Military Forces Open House
featuring the American Heroes Air Show at Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas, April 20th, 2013. During the reenactment,
American and French Resistance soldiers chased German soldiers and claimed the field in victory. The open house
also featured weapons demonstrations from the Texas Revolution and Civil War, helicopter and K-9 search and rescue
demonstrations, civil first responder and law enforcement displays, service member support information booths,
activities for families with children and food vendors.

Marines Win Big Over Navy In 2013 Warrior Games Basketball Tourney - Sergeant Major Michael T. Mack,
Wounded Warrior Regiment sergeant major, cheers for the Marine sitting basketball team during the first round of the
sitting basketball tournament at the 2013 Warrior Games here May 12th, 2012. From May 11-16, more than 200
wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans from the U.S. Marines, Army, Air Force and Navy, as well as a
team representing U.S. Special Operations Command and an international team representing the United Kingdom, will
compete for the gold in track and field, shooting, swimming, cycling, archery, wheelchair basketball and sitting
volleyball at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and U.S. Air Force Academy here. The military service with the most
medals will win the Chairman's Cup.
