In both Minneapolis and Saint Paul the police are catching the criminals, but both cities have a "catch and release" system so there is little deterrent.

A Saint Paul restaurant was recently robbed for the 4th or 5th time. The robber was captured and turned out have been previously convicted of 23 felonies.

Minneapolis police captured a 16 year old for car jacking at gun point. It was the youth's 22nd arrest.

At a recent neighborhood Zoom meeting with Saint Paul police to discuss concerns about crime, the police representative said that the first thing they do when a crime is reported is to check to see who was released from jail the day before.

And then there is the Minnesota Freedom Fund that received 20 million dollars after the George Floyd incident that bails everyone out of jail regardless of their crimes.

This is the basis of it all. There is zero accountability for committing whatever crimes anyone wants. Something changed in the county/state courts to cause all this, prior to COVID. The guy who almost murdered someone on a bus and was arrested right away. He was bailed out right away, then he went and found a random bar manager in an alley in NE and almost murdered him too. Lots of my friends know the manager guy.

And now everyone is wearing masks. Only criminals used to wear masks. Crime is everywhere now, even in the outer ring suburbs. No escaping it.

So long as there is catch and release, idiot judges and the Minnesota Freedom Fund, the tide of the violent crime wave will not go out. We're stuck with it.

Sooner or later, the citizens will turn tide and hopefully take the matter into their own hands. I won't shed a single tear for any criminal that becomes a victim to an armed target.

Same deal with Charlotte - a lot blacker and poorer with high income disparity but also a lot safer.

That should make people rethink their assumptions about places with higher black populations just being more dangerous by default. But they probably won't though.

Or a sign of things to come if the anti-police hysteria doesn't end. We're seeing that even a relatively small population of criminals can turn a once safe and prosperous city into a third-world sh*ithole overnight if police are not allowed to do their job, what do you think will happen in poorer, blacker cities if the current breed of cop-hating nutjobs has it their way and every cop arresting a perp who doesn't go willingly gets sued for assault by Crump&Co?

But you haven’t been here since? You seem to have a very strong opinion about a place you haven’t set foot in for over a year...

I would prefer not to get carjacked or catch a stray bullet in a place not normally known for overabundance of stray bullets and carjackers. Also, I would prefer to not be forced to refresh twitter 100 times a day to ensure I don't accidentally stumble upon a Saint Fentanylus conga line flash mob and have my car smashed up.
