Took a stroll down Lake Street today. It's impressive how much construction and reconstruction is going on, and many places are already back up and running.

It wasn't even a "police" killing. It was a United States (of America) Martial (federal government guy).

Can't expect lowlife low-IQ career criminal welfare recipients to check credentials, though.

It never ends.

It stinks. I'm fourth Gen St. Paul, and just up snd leaving the city my ancestors helped build isn't easy. I don't have kids (yet), but if/when I do, I'm jetting to Forest Lake.

I get the anger. But it's stuff like this, on top of the panhandling, graffiti, trash and bums on the light rail is why I'm glad my job is further up the state about 300 miles away. And the tiny city where I'm at ain't perfect, but damn.

I don't like rural/suburban living. When I first moved to this country (not that long ago), I wondered why so many Americans abandoned "city" living to spread into boring, inconvenient, activity-/culture-lacking rural locations. Over the years I saw with my own eyes how plagued most US "cities" are with colorful lives like G. Floyd or other more dangerous types who cause significant QOL and safety issues to render city living a negative experience.

NYC for example became a livable place (but still with a lot of undesirable issues) for a decade or so after mayors RG/MB worked hard and strategically to clean up and rebuild the city. But things have gone downhill fast under the current bum mayor which triggered a new exodus of local residents and transplants. The divided, flipping-flopping American political system at both local and federal levels seems to be designed to reverse/cancel any societal progresses achieved by previous administrations. The US may never be able to rid off matters that plague American cities to make city dwelling as appealing as in other European or Asian countries.

It wasnt' always like this. The "great migration" changed all northern cities.

It was local sheriff deputies (one from Ramsey County and one from Hennepin County) assigned to the Fugitive Task Force who shot and killed Smith;

Today the U.S. Marshals announced that those local LEOs assigned to that task force will be allowed to wear body cameras, previously prohibited:

Ramsey County deputies will be required to wear/use body cameras when federally deputized and assigned to the task force.
