YOUTH ADMITS STABBING

Kansas City, Mo., Feb 20.-- Admitting that he had stabbed William Hayden in a theatre here Tuesday night, Roy Parker Jr., declared it was an accident, in a statement to police last night.
Young Parker returned to Kansas City when he learned that his father had been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing.
He was arrested as he tried to communicate with his father. Hayden struck at him, Parker said, after a threat and he drew his knife for protection. Other witnesses had told police that Parker dashed in and stabbed the other youth.

RAID ON A GANG

Yesterday Officers Henry and Collins made a raid on an old barn in South St. Joseph, and made the arrest of four of the five occupants, the fifth making an escape. Among the ones taken was Con Buckley, the tough who stabbed Daniel Duffy. The fellows with him are men of his stripe. The gang has been making its headquarters in the old barn.

Chariton Courier September 5, 1884 Pg2

John Dayton of Marion county, was accused of stealing two horses near Springfield, Ill. He was followed to his home, where the horses were found and identified by their owners.
He was arrested and put in jail at Hannibal till the necessary papers could be procured authorizing his being returned to Illinois.

Quite a sensation was created at the Cote Brilliante Race Track in St. Louis recently, when it was discovered that a plot had been laid to poison some of the most successful race horses.
A villainous man from Texas was arrested and jailed.

CHARGED WITH KILLING GIRL'S AGED FATHER

Poplar Bluff, Aug 17.--- Albert Johnson, 23, was lodged in jail at New Madrid today charged with the slaying of James Davis, 55, a farmer, at a picnic. A quarrel over Davis' daughter was said to have caused the shooting.
Johnson was to have married the Davis girl recently but the father objected and the marriage was postponed. Later Davis is said to have insisted that the marriage be performed but Johnson refused.

Ava, Ill., Apr 14.-- Frank Lynch and William Benson have been arrested near here and sent to jail. They are suspected of an attempted train robbery near here and of writing a letter to Murray Dean demanding $8,000. Lynch has confessed.

ARRESTED AT PRISON GATES

Jefferson City, Mar 26.--- Milton E. McPherson, sent to the penitentiary from Buchanan county for obtaining money, by trick and deception, completed his term today, but was arrested at the prison gate by the parole officer of the state of Iowa.
He will be taken back to Anamosa prison to serve four years of a sentence from which he was paroled June 22, 1916. He violated the terms of his parole by coming to Missouri.

George Jackson, 23 years old, was sentenced to life imprisonment by a criminal court jury at St. Joseph for the murder of A. K. Godsey, a saloon keeper. The two brothers of the convicted man, remain to be tried on the same charge.

A man named Lamb, living a short distance north of Hurdland, was arrested for incest with his fourteen year old daughter. We learn he is now in jail at Edina. His wife caused his arrest. He is said to be a member of the church of considerable prominence and standing.

HOTEL THIEF TO BE TAKEN AWAY

Deputy Sheriff Whitling, from Steuben county, N.Y., arrived in the city last night for Tyler M. Gibbs, who is wanted there on a charge of highway robbery. Gibbs was arrested under the bed of a guest in a room at the Midland Hotel three weeks ago.
Miss May Stewart, who was arrested with Gibbs, is living now in Kansas City with a private family. Gibbs eloped with her, they were never married.
