This is strictly to inform, not to discourage. Earth Fare was in Birmingham for about a year and a half in a very visible and busy location. It closed this year, with no surprise to anyone. The manger and customer service were abysmal. I bought a specific item there and finally it was never there and the manager swore the store never carried the product. He suggested that I was in the wrong place and I agreed wholeheartedly with him.

Granted that another Whole Foods and a Sprouts were slated to open just blocks away in addition to two more Fresh Markets. But Earth Fare was responsible for there own failure here from day one. Fresh Market is closest in comparison, but miles ahead in all measurements.

I think this is a store that does well in its Carolina market, but has not had the success of Sprouts and FM and others spreading across the country.
I have been in others and my conclusion, this is not a store to wish for; raise your hopes a bit.

If you were in the Earth Fare out near Hamilton Place I will agree that it is the best store that they have that I am familiar with.
But as I have mentioned and we all know, chain stores are not always equal from location to location. If they don't bring their best game to the market they are going to lose in many cases. After the beginning I never went again. We now hope for a Fresh Market in that location to balance out their locations.

Well, there are signs for two strip centers near USA. One by South Landing and another by Subway in that empty slot of land...as well as another development where Hardee's stands and an apartment complex behind chicken salad chick. Very busy around that area.

If some of y'all still holding out for a Macy's don't hold your breath. They just announced they are closing 14% of its stores basically 100 stores. Macy's is struggling outta all dept stores. Here in Atlanta area 3 of Macy's stores may close 2 already early last year. Von Maur would be a nice fit in the Mobile area

Yes, that's the one. They are also planning to move into a former Harvest grocery location along Hixson Pike, near my daughter's home. I hope that one is more successful than others that have been mentioned.

Disappointed to hear that they've not been very good in some locations.

I have a feeling that one of the New Orleans stores will close this time....most likely Esplanade. Cortana over in Baton Rouge lost theirs earlier this year.

We have 10+ Macy's here in Atlanta I'm thinking 3 or 4 are on the chopping block next year. This year the North Dekalb Mall location closed.

Macon, GA and Columbia, SC are two markets they could pull out of, since the Macy's there are in weak or dying malls.

Birmingham is another possibility (Brookwood)...and Tallahassee losing their sole Macy's would dim hope even more of landing one here.

Brookwood is the flagship in Birmingham, and carries a better selection not to mention it has a full store for homes. Galleria would be the one to go, but actually both stores are busy but with different types of clientele. I will be surprised if either goes. Some markets mentioned above became Macy's through buyouts and others are overbuilt. Since that did not happen here, the market seems good. Especially since Birmingham does not whole heartedly embrace Belk.
