I want a Nordstrom Rack (discount concept for Nordstrom) anywhere at or near the mall on Airport blvd! An emplyee at the new belk told me that he heard from a highly official reliable source that Macy's is coming at the old spot of Belk and best Buy (both will be torn down) at Springdale mall. Who knows though, I'll believe it when I hear it officially and publically revealed. ANY info?

You have obviously never eaten at one of those; they are nothing at all alike.

The ONLY way I ever see a Macy's coming here is if Belk trades out of this market...AND if they miraciously turn themselves around after shedding another 100 stores. To get a store at Springdale would have to include some MAJOR redevelopment and remerchandising since the current mix screams "former dead mall". IF Sam's moves, then that would open up that site, but its presence AND the fact it OWNS its land makes Springdale the cluster that it is today.

Yea, the are SOOOO different. It's not like both of them serve hummus, roll ups, chicken plates, tender loin plates, ect. They are basically the same menus with a few tweaks. The are both Mediterranean cafes...not sure how you think they are nothing at all alike.

Work is being done on the former Sears Essentials/Kmart on Schillinger. The entrance is gone so SOMETHING must be going in there.

I'm still thinking that it could be an At Home store. Any other guesses?

EDIT: Looked up the site on Mobile's permit site (http://permits.ci.mobile.al.us) There are multiple permits for remodeling the former Kmart space and one in particular (PRJ2016-00846) that is for an "At Home" sign.

This is likely a way Sears and Kmart are slowly disposing of their stores. Their new Slidell location is the former Sears at North Shore Square and MANY other former Kmarts have been converted around the country.
