visiting montreal for a long weekend in february? (how much, shop)

hi,

my friend and I are thinking about going to montreal for a weekend in february. amtrak is currently running a special, $89 per person for a roundtrip, so we would be taking the 11 hr ride on the adirondack train from NYC to montreal and back (one of the most scenic train rides in the US i've been told).

we would most likely be staying at a hostel close to the latin quarter. now the real question is, how many days should we spend in montreal?
- arriving thursday night, leaving monday morning or
- arriving friday night, leaving monday morning

i'm a hockey fan so i'm DEFINITELY gonna go see a habs game no matter how much the ticket is (rangers on 02/05, devils 02/06 or leafs 02/12). what else is there to do in the winter time when it's probably super cold outside?
