Wow, some really good movies on this list.

It's extremely gruesome, but "I Saw the Devil" is a very exciting, edge of your seat Korean Thriller. Some critics are saying it's one of the best and most original movies to ever come out of South Korea. One of the best movies I've ever seen, in my personal top 20 favorite movies of all time. it's on instant stream for Netflix

No one listed Girl With A Dragon Tattoo? I just saw this film, and loved it. You have to watch it twice to get the full effect.

The performances made this movie stand out to me. Rooney Mara was particularly outstanding.

Roman Polanski is a reprehensible human being, but a great filmmaker. And yes, Ghost Writer was a very good, very smart film. Loved it.

L.A. Confidential. One of the best movies of the '90s, and the best example of flawed heroes you're likely to see onscreen.

Gran Torino. This one toes the line between thriller and drama, but it's a great movie --- and does a great job of breaking the conventions of the typical Eastwood hero.

A History of Violence.

Eastern Promises.

Jackie Brown

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
David Mamet directed this one at age 82, and any Mamet film, whether he wrote or directed it, is great.
Drive and All Good Things, and The Ides of March
All starring Ryan Gosling and all different. Each is riveting in much different ways.
Trans Siberian
Classic Hitchcock style thriller.
Perfect Host
High suspense, and a ton of twists to keep the suspense going.

Polanski had made a bunch of thrillers. I particularly like The Pianist, which won a bunch of Academy Awards.

All are well worth the time, and most were overlooked at the box office.

is it my imagination or do these type of movie not get made anymore. I am not decrying recent movies, but it seems to me that these type of movies are not made anymore.
