Sorry, but besides both songs being called "Let It Go", that really is the extent of the similarities between the two songs... I do not think Disney is "stealing" this completely unknown song.
Also, "Frozen" is big because it's the first Disney princess movie where the prince/male love interest doesn't save the princess! The girls in "Frozen" save themselves. It's all about girl power!

The chorus has the same melody over the same lyrics. People have been sued over stuff liked this. But Disney has the biggest lawyers in town, so I doubt they care.

The only lyrics that are the same are "let it go, let it go". That's all. There are only so many words in the English language to use in songs and I doubt anyone who works at Disney has even heard of this song or band, it's so obscure. There is no case to be had here for Disney supposedly "stealing" these lyrics. The songs are not alike at all. You're reaching too far.
Ohhhh! Is that the gay angle right wingers are talking about? It's a cartoon encouraging kids to come out of the closet and "let it go, I don't care what they're going to say" and all that?
Jeez. I agree on the singing. There was a lot and really only Let It Go is catchy.
I think some people see it as a metaphor for being gay. I personally didn't see it that way though...more of as analogy for being raised in a family with rigid expectations about who or what you can be.
I think the people just don't get Frozen. It was a great sister story. Great songs I cannot think of any bad song from it at the moment. My three favorite are "Let It Go," "For The First Time In Forever," and "Do You Want To Build A Snowman." As for the metaphor for being gay, anything can be a metaphor for being gay if you want it to be.

You must be tone deaf to think the melody from Frozen is taken from this song. It's nowhere near Vanilla Ice using "Under Pressure" for "Ice, Ice Baby" and only changing the one ding. If you want Great Big Sea sue Disney than you are asking for Pasty Cline to sue Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Gnarls Barkley, Seal, Simple Plan and Daughtry for singing songs with the title being "Crazy."

"There is only one song, and Adam and Eve wrote it; the rest is a variation on a theme." - Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones

That's a good point. It is also one of the first movies where the primary big bad is a force of nature. The Hans is more someone who capitalizes on opportunities, but the evil is a curse.
I finally saw the movie. Oh Lord. Maybe Disney was trying to get away from their stereotypical rescued-princess theme, but the GIRL POWER! message was sooo overdone. And based on Hans Christian Andersen's Snow Queen? The only similarities are that they are both about ... snow queens.
Lyrics like "I don't know if I'm elated or gassy/But I'm somewhere in that zone" indicate just how cheap and tacky Disney has become. Yay, princess fart jokes.
