1982's The Thing was head and shoulders above the 1952 version.
1978's Heaven can Wait was better than 1941's Here Comes Mr. Jordan.
Last Holiday with Queen Latifah in 2006 was better than the 1950 version.
The Debt (I don't agree, but IMDB has it a .1 higher)
Sunshine (most people agree that it was better than Solar Crisis)
The Thing (at 8.2, it's above the 7.3 for The Thing from Another World)
If I'm right (because I'm about to leave work, my laptap is isolated at home, and I won't be back on line till midnight), name three movies where they walked out to steal the aircraft with their visors down.
Actually, I preferred "Solar Crisis", think I rewatched just 2-3 months ago, as a better as in more watchable movie...........but that's what makes horse races.

I was also thinking Blue Thunder on the aircraft question but don't remember Roy Scheider wearing a visor.
As far as man eating bears, I'd go with
Prophecy
Quest for Fire
