There is a bigger picture here America...instead of making the World see us

2 edged sword.
"Tasteless stupidity" is a key phrase here. It seems to be an epidemic now in every aspect of our society, and this movie reeks of it. The movie should've been shelved because of the supreme stupidity of it. In fact, a movie of this caliber can ONLY gain notoriety if its subject matter is highly controversial. Pretty pathetic.

The film was cancelled? Not where I live. It's been playing in my town this week, in NM. It's been playing in the SF Bay Area. I haven't heard anything about it being cancelled.

Sony loves all the media hype, it sure sold tickets to a movie that would otherwise have been a huge money loss.

You can't sell tickets if there is no theatre or more accurately only 10% of the planned number of theatres open for you.

Watched it at home on Christmas. Very funny movie. It gets a lot of hate on the imdb forums and it seems like because they're saying it was a Sony stunt to more money. Either way, I love comedies and I was going to watch it anyway.

budget - 45 million
box office - 3.5 million
online rentals and purchases - $15 million

not bad on the online $$. It's now one of the biggest online release. Also, the movie was pirated right after it was released on youtube. I saw it for free. It had its funny moments but it lost steam right in the middle of the movie. (right after James meets Kim and they hang out like buds)

Now I'm a fan of "stupid" humor and loved Pineappe Express and This is the End but this movie was just plain horrible. It is so bad is almost seemed like Franco and Rogen made this as a joke..
