The New Gods was The Eternals done better. Same guy: Jack Kirby.
The Eternals could be REAL. Some aliens from another planet came down to the earth billions of yrs ago and the human beings are part of their evolution. That's scientific discoveries.

"Could" being the keyword. You could say the same thing about unicorns, giants, fairies, and pegasus.

Not a new idea, by the way. This is the central conceit of Zechariah Sitchin's nonsense.

No. It's imaginative speculation.

Jack Kirby was indeed influenced by the mythologies of the Aztecs as well as the ancient astronaut and paleo-contact theories popularized by von Däniken's Chariots of the Gods?

I mean, that adds up to some very rich bedrock for SFF. And the late '60s-'70s was all about tripping out, cryptozoology, the paranormal, occult, etc.

It appears most people have yet to realize Kirby mined that bedrock for multiple concepts published by multiple publishers, but concepts that are visibly variations on similar themes.

As far as The Eternals having the biggest budget yet for an MCU film, I guess I'll have to be surprised. The MCU has gleaned painfully little from Kirby's wildly imaginative designs.

I've no doubt Giorgio Tsoukalos agrees.

Now, now, let's leave the "p" word out of this. Horses with spikes are the stuff of pure fantasy.

Btw, the plural is pegasi.

Obviously not a new idea. Superman Clark is alien.

^ But they're more like Uncle Martian. Have been on the earth for a long long time.

From the trailer we know it seems like the main theme about this movie is love between the characters of Richard Madden and Gemma Chan. Because the theme song is The End of the World

There is only one Pegasus, just like there is only one Godzilla. No plural is needed.

There can be only one!

The final film in the Heisei series, Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995) offered an updated take on the successor trope, i.e. Godzilla's son, and it's a darned good take.

But that's where the Japanese franchise went on hold while the US tried its hand at a G-film.

After that misfire, the next few Japanese G-films — together dubbed the Millennium series — ignored the Heisei continuity and functioned as a set of standalone films (except for the antepenultimate and penultimate episodes).

In fact, Godzilla: Millennium (aka Godzilla 2000) is a direct sequel to the original 1954 film, disregarding even the very good remake/reboot Godzilla 1984.
