I was looking forward to this movie. Book was fantastic. It looks like it opened but no local theater is showing it. Does anybody know why and if its coming here?

Thanks

We were wondering the same thing! Also wondering about the movie Collapse. But I seriously doubt that will ever be shown around here.

It is in a limited release by the Weinstein Company. If it does well in the current markets and they don't have another movie that they like better, then they will expand the release.
Another thing at play here is that TWC likes to toy with releases this time of year in order to promote one movie for an Oscar over another.

It is possible that it will not get here until the DVD release.

I am looking forward to seeing The Road. Where do you think the book is set? I know the movie filmed in Pennsylvania and apparently didn't use any green screens at all! When I read the book, it actually reminded me of the Piedmont and mid-coastal NC.

So bummed it's not showing here. I was just in NYC and could have seen it! Hoping for a wide release soon.

I can't imagine that it won't get a showing here. Perhaps the Carolina Theater in Durham or one of the art theaters in Raleigh.

I also imagined NC when I read the book. :-) Can't wait to see the movie.

Default Bad movie distribution

The Triangle area has shockingly bad film distribution these days. Despite an ample audience for indepedents, we're not getting films like R. Siegel's Big Fan or Von Trier's Antichrist or Almodovar's Broken Promises. And we're apparently going to have to wait as long as Nebraska to get The Road (no offense, Nebraska - Lincoln's a fine town).

I'm grateful for The Galaxy, which at least makes an effort. Still, it's surprising and pathetic how badly served film fans are in the Raleigh/Durham region.

"The Road" is now playing at several different theaters in the Triangle. In addition to the big chain theaters it is playing at the Rialto theater in Raleigh. If you enjoy having beer or wine while watching your movies I recommend you see it there!
