This is what I think "Animal" was evolved from - even the logo on the drums looks the same:

I was really impressed by Chris "Crow" Smith of The Flat Duo Jets.

Several times, when trying to come up with a drum part for one of my brother's tunes and I want to put a fill in it, I have to think to myself, "Doug Clifford, Doug Clifford".

Exactly! And he was wearing a Tux! Come on people! There are very good drummers who do appeal to the fans and there are world class drummers like Buddy.

NO!!

They all sound bland and like each other.

No one plays groove, or has a signature sound. Guys like Joey Kramer from Aerosmith, John Bonham, Keith Moon, are long gone.

When was the last time you heard a newer drummer play a half-time shuffle like Bernard Purdie? Or Jim Keltner funk like on Steely Dan's "Josie"?

Everyone is playing technical off-beat stuff that DOES NOT make me wiggle in my seat or tap my foot. And it's all buried in reverb. ICKK!!

I will say that Ray Luzier has a good groove and sound, but he's the only new kid on the block I think much of.

To all the Mitch Mitchell guys, check out Michael Shrieve with Santana's band at Woodstock. He was only 19 at the time, and can MORE than keep up with anything I've heard Mitch Mitchell do.
