Unless previously noted, Keith Carlock, who's playing drums for the current iteration of the Steely Dan band, has got it and then some. No problem keeping up with the work Porcaro/Purdie/Blaine/Keltner did for the recorded efforts back in the day.
Saw them in Vegas a couple of days ago and Carlock used every bit of the fifteen or twenty piece kit he had at hand.

I did not know he was with Steely Dan now, way cool! He is very versatile! Can't wait to see the videos!

Yeah, it was a tremendous show. They are doing a short residency at the Venetian. Great sounding room with a tighter than tight band.
Only disappointment was no super deep cuts, sadly somewhat geared to the poorly dressed (maybe wear something other than the Oskosh's when going to a Vegas show?) older crowd who would have been bewildered by some of the more esoteric, abstract and mischievous work of Mssrs. Becker and Fagen. (think rolling out the vanilla "FM" and a lounge version of "Dirty Work" sans the David Palmer vocal. Midwest nice. ) That said, they did cover the bases well.
None the less, for devoted fans, young music students (it was a master class) and this 63 year old who threw on a tux jacket and seriously herbed up before the show (Thanks new Nevada cannabis laws!!!) it was a treat I'll remember for a long, long time.
