Hmmm. There have been so many good ones.

Some of my favorites over the years:

The Who, at tiny, sweaty Mammoth Gardens, Denver CO, 1970

The Grateful Dead, Folsom Field in Boulder, CO 1972, with baggies of pot (complete with papers and matches) thrown into the audience

Bruce Springsteen, under the stars at beautiful Red Rocks, 1978

Two different Neil Young concerts: the first one was his watershed Rust Never Sleeps tour, at the Denver Colisuem in 1978, the second was at Red Rocks in 2002 (Cowgirl in the Sand in the driving rain was really something to see and hear).

Every Warren Zevon show I ever saw (which were many, he was a consummate performer)

Richard Thompson under summer evening skies at Denver Botanic Gardens

The White Stripes at Red Rocks, 2005, we had great seats ,which added to an already perfect setting--and Jack and Meg put on a wonderful show

Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Meters, Broken Social Scene, Social Distortion, outdoors at the New Orleans VooDoo Experience, 2006--it was spirited, funky and magical

...and Midnight Oil, Marvin Gaye, the Allman Brothers, Los Lobos, Earth Wind and Fire, the Chieftains, the Saw Doctors, Leon Russell, Leo Kottke...

I live in Alaska and has never been to a concert until August. I drove down to the states to Montana. I drove to Salt Lake City to see Rush at the Usana Amphitheater. This was the first concert I've ever been to. This was the best thing I ever done for myself. I'm into concerts now and I'm driving down again in April. I'm going to be on the look out for more concerts. I was amazed at how good of a job that they did and how close the songs sounded to the recorded albums. I can say that I'm hooked on concerts now. Rush blew my mind that night and now I need more concerts.

I have one concert that stands so far above the rest... James Brown in Atlanta the night of the Olympic Park bombing. I have never heard people scream louder for an encore. We finally gave up. Later, walking home, we ran into a reporter on the phone who told us about the bombing. Best show ever!

I`ve spent a fortune over the years, and in some cases regretted every penny, but one of the best was one of the cheapest.. 75p [$1.50] to see Jack The Lad in 76..Pure Magic...

Can`t find a clip of them but here`s Billy Mitchell in later years..

There've been two: the first, and I'm being totally honest, was Garth Brooks at the Summit, Houston, around 1996. That man puts on a hell of a show. The other - Jack Ingram, The Mucky Duck, Houston, 2005.

Wow! There have been a few very good concerts:

1. Prince and the Revolution, Purple Rain Tour 1984 at the Forum in Inglewood. This was my first ever concert. For the encore, he did what seemed like a 30 minute jam of America. Amazing.

2. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Irvine. Cant remember the year but it was amazing. My favorite guitar player of all time. Jimmy Vaughn came out for one song and they stood back to back, reach behind and played each others' guitar.

3. Buddy Guy, Hollywood, CA at the Hollywood Bowl and at the Universal/Gibson Amphetheater. My second favorite guitar player of all time.

4. Clive Davis' Pre Grammy Dinner Party, 2006 and 2007. Private party with top performers of the year performing. Basically just an all out jam. Akon, Smokey Robinson, Christina Aguilera, Black Eyed Peas, Pink (who brought the house down with a Janis Joplin/acoustic guitar accompanied song) and Jennifer Hudson who sang her Oscar winning song from Dreamgirls to close the show/part.

5. Roger Troutman/Zapp - Celebrity Theater, Anaheim. The most energetic non-stop, never sit in your seat party and dance-a-thon.

Oh, I almost forgot. I had front row, dead center seats to see one of John Lee Hooker's last performances at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Also performing were Robert Cray and Keb Mo.

Linkin Park by far.

Rise Against at Red Rocks Amphitheater close second. The venue alone is amazing.
