"Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel (1977)

"Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
I had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom, boom, boom
Son, he said, grab your things I've come to take you home ..."

So, what OTHER songs can you remember that mention "Pick up the dog doo / Hope that it's hard (woof woof)"?

Joe Walsh, "Ordinary Average Guy".

"Liquid Diamonds" by Tori Amos. This is one of my favorite songs, but a very strange one.

Surrender then start your engines
You'll know quite soon what my mistake was
For those on horseback or dog sled
You turn on at the bend in a road

I hear she still grants forgiveness
Although I willingly forgot her
The offering is molasses and you say

I guess I'm an underwater thing
So I guess I can't take it personally
I guess I'm an underwater thing, liquid running

There's a sea secret in me
It's plain to see and it is rising
But I must be flowing liquid diamonds, liquid diamonds

Calling for my soul
And at the corners of the world
I know she's playing poker
With the rest of the stragglers

Calling for my soul
At the corners of the world
I know she's playing poker
With the rest, the rest

And if your friends don't come back to you
And you know this is madness
A lilac mess in your prom dress and you say

I guess I'm an underwater thing
So I guess I can't take it personally
I guess I'm an underwater woman, liquid running

There's a sea secret in me
It's plain to see and it is rising
But I must be flowing liquid diamond, liquid diamond

I call, I go inside a shell
I see it's old and you're doing oh so well
These days you do it again and I say it's coming back
Again something like the

And Saturday, such was it
Can he bring me those dreams
Keep it back, dead is done
Preaching back into himself
Keep it just between us

Liquid, liquid, liquid

Robert Plant wrote a song for his solo album called Sixes and Sevens. I never really paid attention to the tile and even wondered about it. A psychiatrist friend of mine often uses the terminology with his patients who are bipolar "1's and 10's, 6's and 7's. People who are afflicted with it are comfortable with 1's and 10's (the extremes) but can't handle something in the middle such as 6's and 7's.

"Cause here I am making changes.
Alterations in my house of cards.
But I've a whole new arrangement.
Am I at home, at I at home."
