AC/DC bites the big one. I mean, they suck. Posting music videos is not what this OP needs, either. JPD's post above is what you need to do if you know anyone. THAT will get you going in a BIG way. Watching stupid music videos won't help you one bit.

I've played guitar all of my life (now 38). Although I started at a young age I've seen many people take it up later in life, and some became quite good. I won't lie to you though, it takes a lot of practice. The best advice that I can give you is to have fun with it. Learn the basic chords first, and then you can start figuring out some of you favorite old songs. Keeping it fun is the key. I was having so much fun while learning that all those hours of practice never felt like drudgery.
Yes, you should.
You should try to do whatever interests you.
You may have some sore finger tips untill you build up some callousis, and some sore hand and arm muscles for awhile. But if you were 20 yrs old you would have that.
Go for it and practice.
You may have 30 years left to enjoy and improve your new talent.
I don't play guitar, but my son takes lessons. I play piano and drums. You're NEVER too old to learn a new skill, and especially if it's something that will bring you pleasure and enjoyment. If you want to learn to play, by all means - do it!!!
I sure do appreciate all the encouragement...it's something I have always wanted to do but, never had the time or the means to do. (I'm retired now) I been working on some chords and like robhu said, I got sore finger tips. I can handle the sore fingers. I'm trying to work on it some everyday...like an hour or so.
If anyone has any pointers I'm all ears...because I know nothing about playing. I did buy a couple of books and a DVD that helps. I just look at chords in the book and try to make it sound right. Getting my finger positioned and not interfere with another string is my problem with some chords. I guess it's like a lot of other things PRACTICE.
I'm 66 and my Martin 000-15S is just now learning how to negotiate my hands properly. I'll never be great, but good is good enough for me!
