Not always. Both homes that I have lived in, in Naples, the taxes have always been a lot more than my insurance. Before putting an offer on the home check both. It only takes a couple of phone calls and at least then you will know for sure what your yearly expenses are going to cost. if you buy a newer home that meets the code requirements and get the wind mitigation done you might be pleasantly surprise. On the other hand an older home in the estates could have a very high premium.

It depends on your carrier and what you cover with your insurance. Our property tax is a little over 2000 (2600sq ft house built in 2002) and our insurance is about 1600. We don't cover everything in our house though.

Hello
We are looking to relocate with our horses from Nc. How is this area for horses? Please explain 7' tall chain-link fences. Is that to keep people or animals out? Do you see Fl panthers or gators often here?
Thanks for your time!

I can't comment in much detail about horses, but I know people do have them in the estates. In fact, there's a stable on 951 and 5th Ave NW.

As others have stated, a lot of the chain link fences were put up during the recession on foreclosed houses to discourage theft, mainly of the AC units and well stuff.

Panthers are rare, but gators are pretty much anywhere there is fresh or brackish water. You will see lots of other wildlife, like fox, bear, deer, possum, raccoons etc. pretty often.

I'm in the Estates. My next door neighbors have three horses on 2.5 acres. They have a chain link fence that is about six feet tall around at least an acre of the property. They also have an electric wire across the top to keep out critters. When they first moved here, they had a bear that came around and got into the trash, but didn't bother the horses. The bear hasn't been back since. I presume that he got a hit from the fence. There is also another family close by that has horses, but their fencing is simply wood rails. Their horses have wood sheds.

Horses are common in the Estates. There are several large ranches that have horses.

We haven't seen alligators in our neighborhood, but sometimes they are seen in the canals.

The gator photo is from my backyard.

The bear has knocked down my fence-again.
