How do the rush hour commutes compare from Hendersonville or Nolensville to North of the airport (Donelson) area? I am sure it depends on how far you live from the interstate in Hendersonville, but we are just needing a generalized idea. Also, what about commutes from Franklin or Brentwood to the Donelson area?

If you could live in any of the four abovementioned areas and had two children (3rd & 5th grade) and a budget up to probably $260,000 with education, low crime rate and commute time being primary concerns, which would you live?

Thank you for your assistance -

I haven't heard much about it lately, but I believe they are building a new bridge across the river/lake that would shorten the commuting time from Hendersonville to the Donelson area quite a bit. I have no idea when the thing is suppose to be finished.

As far as the first two mentioned towns are concerned, would you prefer more amenities and conveniences, or more of a "country" (rural) feel? Nolensville still has a rural feel to it; Hendersonville has more activities and amenities.

You can probably rule Brentwood out with a budget of $260k. You might be able to find something there at that price these days, but it's doubtful.

Personally I like Franklin, but that's partially because I'm more familiar with it than either Hendersonville or Nolensville. Franklin is a nice small town, but like many areas around Nashville it's growing and while you gain some things when a town grows and prospers, you also lose some things.

With your budget, I wouldn't completely rule out Brentwood, however you'd get more bang for your buck in Nolensville. Be careful not to be sold something as Nolensville that is in Davidson Co. You need to be in Williamson Co for the better schools. Based on all things considered (budget, schools, commute) I'd recommend Nolensville or Hendersonville for you. If you'd be willing to take a home that probably needs a little work (atleast updating) you could get something in Brentwood. The commute times from all probably don't vary too much, but again this depends on where you are in each particular area.

Sorry to complicate things, but have you considered Mt. Juliet and Wilson County? A friend of mine fled Williamson County because she was tired of the "keeping up with the Joneses" lifestyle and cost of living and moved her kids to the Wilson County schools. Very, very pleased with the move, too. Much easier commute than Hendersonville would be. I did the Hendersonville commute for years and it only got worse and worse and worse over time.

I don't think any bridges are under construction from Hendersonville. It's been TALK only. If anyone knows differently, please speak up.

At this point in time, the Nolensville commute will be faster to the Donelson area, and especially the airport. The neighborhoods that would fit your range in Nolensville are Ballenger Farms, Bent Creek, Silver Stream Farms, Stonebrook and Winterset Woods.

I can say, conclusively, that the toll-bridge idea is dead. (Unfortunately) The legislature decided not to go through with the idea due in large part to Davidson County objecting to the increased traffic it would bring through their neck of the woods.

I agree that West Wilson County (Mt. Juliet) would be a good alternative. Hendersonville (Sumner County) have great schools, but it is a little more expensive. It's about a 35 minute drive to the airport. Nolensville is growing, but it is still a pretty far drive to the airport area, I think.

Hendersonville has a pretty good commute to the airport area. Traffic is a bit slow where Vietnam Vets (TN386) merges into I-65 South but it's smooth sailing until Briley Pky. It's usually slow coming back in the afternoon, however.

260,000 would get you a great home in Hendersonville. I recommend the Beech area. There's a lot of new construction, great schools, and it's very close to Vietnam Vets/I-65. The Indian Lake and Saundersville Rd areas are also nice, tho a bit longer commute. For elementary schools, I think Indian Lake, Nannie Berry, Beech, Jack Anderson, and Madison Creek are tops in the area. Crime is hardly a problem in Hendersonville no matter in what part you live. You also have the advantage of living close to the lake and all of the recreational opportunities that will provide. Hendersonville has an excellent Parks system.

Thanks for the update on the bridge. I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it; I just remembered it being talked about a lot a year or two ago. I actually thought it was still in the works. Since I don't live on that side of town I didn't really keep up with it.

No problem. It really got swept under the rug. The only reason I know about it is because I contacted a legislator about it and that's the answer they gave me.
