I saw a whole flock of cormorants at the beach town where we have our retiree luncheons today. They usually sit on the pilings in the river and then go diving for fish, but I always love to see them anyway. What was unexpected, however, was spotting a pair of bald eagles in a tree as I crossed over a creek on the way out of town. I just about drove off the road trying to see them better through the windshield!
While driving through the neighborhood this afternoon when I returned home I notice the AZ Roadrunner walking around in one of the yards. First time I think I’ve seen one this far into civilization of the city. Then there were the typical little quail runny across the street just as I drove by.

Quail used to be a common sight in my neck of the woods, but now that you mentioned them, I can't say as I've seen a one in a good ten + years. Maybe more.
I have two neighbors behind me. This morning, the neighbor's brown dog on the right was bouncing and barking at the black dog in the yard to the left. The black dog just kept sitting there, completely ignoring the brown dog. This went on for over five minutes.
See the black dog lives with two other dogs, so he is used to the whole social, other-dogs-around concept. It was so funny to watch, because brown dog was SO excited and the black dog was SO . . . not. He finally stood up and walked away from the bouncing dog.
