Man severely burned after falling into Yellowstone hot spring (pet, North Carolina, Wyoming)

A 21-year-old man from North Carolina suffered severe burns late Tuesday when he fell into a hot spring at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.
Gervais Dylan Gatete from Raleigh was with seven other people when he was burned in the Lower Geyser Basin north of the Old Faithful area, a spokeswoman for the park said Wednesday in a written statement.
We have a lot of hot springs around the area I live. They are flat lethal. There is one called Diana's Punch Bowl SE of here that the state had to erect a serious barrier around to keep people out. The top 12 inches or so of the water feels perfect for a dip. But whats under that layer will par boil in seconds. It has claimed it's share of tourists. There are a lot of other places just as dangerous. Hot springs are nothing to fool about with.
I have yet to travel there, but aren't there signs? and a designated boardwalk to stay on? I guess I don't understand how it happens as often as it does. He's lucky to be alive.
It's a PARK! The animals must be pets, and warm pools must certainly be perfect for bathing. Yanno, they wouldn't put this stuff in a park if it wasn't safe.
I think it was just a few weeks ago that another young man was killed, maybe in that same hot springs. He wandered off the boardwalk... poof!

I wouldn't want to be alive after doing something stupid enough to hurt me that badly.

That was last year, and they never recovered his body. He's still simmering, somewhere.
Why does this keep happening?
There are signs and rails and all that business.
Because people are jackasses.
A local beach with cliffs above it was marked as dangerous and unstable, and not to enter. People went down to use it anyway. Five died (I believe it was) when the cliff collapsed and buried them.
