Thank you for sharing the good news Justice prevails. A criminal was arrested, unharmed by those he stole from, and stolen property will be returned to the rightful owner(s), all thanks to the bravery of one citizen.

Good. In all seriousness the police probably just had to make sure they had a legitimate reason to not charge him; otherwise they would risk setting a bad precident (ie- would it now be "ok" to discharge a firearm to stop a teen from TP'ing a friends car?, etc). I'm assuming his assets will be returned as well. They should also thank him for stopping said crime, etc...so there isn't any lack of clarity with regard to his good name.

Thats pretty poor practice no? Arresting someone first & then looking to see if a arrest was needed after the fact? I'm thinking that if thats the case his civil rights were violated big time. More likely the arresting officer was a little overzealous and has learned something about his place in the scheme of things.

I understand the arrest was made only AFTER the police consulted the DA's office and were advised to do so. Seems like casting the Farmington police as overzealous is unfair.

Anyway - it's the right result now and what I expected of NH.

You know your right. Thanks for the clarification. The DA's overzealous.

I'm with you on the result being right. But its a slippery slope once you start letting the authorities get away with treating stand up citizens like bad guys. They didnt need to arrest him & confiscate his property to determine whether or not to charge him, they knew where he lived. In my state, The "Constitution state" of all things, he would have been in court and they would have tried to hang him. Just saying to take nothing for granted.
