My brother just called me. He lives a couple of miles from the epicenter, too. He said that there was a lot of shaking and things falling off shelves, etc., but no major damage that he knows of. He was getting ready for work when it happened, said he was given the day off as a safety precaution!

My nephew lives in Pomona! Not sure if he's gone back from Maine yet, though. Was there any actual damage or just shaking?

So far the news reports are that it was only a lot of shaking with no major structural damage to buildings and no electrical outages. They are suggesting not using phones right now due to the high volume of calls. My bro says that there were lots of precautionary evacuations and school/work cancellations. I hope that's all!

Thanks, Asta! what a thing to go home to, after a wedding. I have another nephew also in LA - but no idea what actual area. Glad it was only 'strong' and not damaging. I think I'll take winter
