I am relocating to New Jersey from Raleigh,NC and I need some advice on where I should live. I will be working in Kenilworth, NJ and is looking to live somewhere that would not be a bad commute. I have 2 children, one 13 and the other 7 and I prefer to live somewhere that is diverse and have a good school system. I know the cost of living is way more then NC, but that's fine with me, I need a change from NC. Pleas help, any information would be gratefully appreciated.

Look at Westfield. Great town -- nice downtown area, good schools from what I've heard, very nice homes. Probably not the most diverse place, and it's definitely not cheap. But if you can afford it it would be a great choice. It's not too far from Kenilworth, but you should of course always test-drive any commute to make sure it's workable for you.

I just helped a family sold their 2br 2hba townhouse at Westgate Edison and bought a nice house at New Providence to move up. I think you may also find New Providence or Edison are nice places to live with good schools.

Westfield is nice but unnecessarily (IMO) expensive. I recommend you check out Cranford.

If you provide price range people will be better able to send you in the right direction....

The aforementioned Westfield is beautiful, but $o expen$ive.

I just move to NJ from Charlotte so brace up for $$$. Try Monmouth County, nice areas are Middletown, tinton Falls, etc....

NJ has excellent school systems compared to NC.

Try East Brunswick.... You can check out New Jersey Schools Systems by district using this link -- NEW JERSEY SCHOOL REPORT CARD 2005-2006 You can select by county/school district.

East Brunswick High School was just ranked as #1,071 and in the top 5% of the best public high schools in America (see this link... America's Top Public High Schools - Newsweek America's Best High Schools - MSNBC.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18757087/?sort=State&count=1351&Search=&start=700&limit=100 &year=2007& - broken link) ).

I'm relocating to that area as well and it's one of my top choices thus far.
