We currently live in Jersey City, have a toddler, and are thinking about moving to a townhouse/condo in Union. I commuter to NY, so that's also a factor. Anyway, we're thinking about getting a condo in Union. It looks like there are 3 options in our price range: The Pointe, Hickory Manor, or Green Lane.
Does anyone have any experience with these townhouses/condos? I'm wondering in particular about the safety of the areas, the elementary schools, the noise level, and the NYC commute options. Any other insights would also be appreciated.
I live in The Pointe and it is great. It is a guard gated community with a pool, clubhouse and plenty of trees and room to run around. There is a bus stop that goes to NY right at the driveway and there is also the Union train station which is a short drive away.
I have not seen the other places, but I can tell you that I have a very large 2 bedroom with 2 full baths and the units are extremely spacious.
Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me a little about the type of people (working class, white collar, young professionals, etc.) who live at the Pointe and the noise level?
The noise level depends on where you are in the complex. I am to the far left of the gate so I have little to no noise all the time, even when outside on my porch. The units that are directly to the right of the guard do get some noise from Blackthorn which is adjacent to the condos.
As far as the types of people there is a wide range. I am in my 30's and am single and there are also a lot of families. Most of the community is white collar with some blue collar in the mix as well. It is very diverse and everyone that I have met has been very nice.
Anyone else have any input regarding the other developments?
