not knowing the locations means i cannot be specifc but in general going by car is the most viable option, but the traffic sucks at most times, you could try to find a bus that goes to the bridge bus station and then transfer to a bronx bound bus that will be time consuming, the worst option but might work is a train to NYP station and then a subway trip to the bronx, but no matter how you slice it, it isn't an easy commute
Western Bronx (Riverdale, Kingsbridge, Sedgewick Ave area) is doable by train then taking the 1 or A trains up there. East side is a little tougher but still doable. You need to get to the WTC via the PATH and jump on the B, D, 4, or 5. I do it once a week to Mosholu Parkway and it's annoying, but not too terribly bad.
Yes I agree...if you are in Northern Jersey I would just suck it up and drive..the buses can be hell....if you must..take a bus!
