I recently accepted a new job in the metropark complex and I'm looking to move to the area. I'm late 20's single (not married) professional and currently live in the fairmount section of philadelphia. School districts would not be important to me because I don't have kids.

What are some great/affordable places within a 30 min car/train commute from metro park. I would like a place with decent restaurants and entertainment.

I would want to rent for the first year and potentially buy a place after. I'd be looking to spend 1300 to 1600 max for a 1/2 bedroom place.

Lots of places. Fairly close by is the town of Rahway with its own arts district and a fairly decent blend of local cafe's, maybe a 10 or 15 minute ride or train hop either way. Lots of other towns.

Right there in Iselin/Woodbridge are plenty of fine areas.

probably rahway because new brunswick property taxes are higher and things are pricey there too than in rahway.
