I thought it was South Orange that the Shue family lived in. At least, that's where Andrew was born, and they lived close to Zach Braff ("Zach lived around the corner from the Shues." - according to IMDB [I know that doesn't mean they were in SO, but that's what it sounds like to me. Also, they all went to Columbia in Maplewood.])

Could be Maplewood/South Orange sort of 'meld together'. They are right next to each other, both attending Columbia High School.

My BF is around the corner from me in SO, and I am in Maplewood...

The movie Fathers and Sons with Jeff Goldblum was shot in Long Branch and Asbury Park and the movie City By the Sea - it had Robert DeNero - he was a cop and his son was thought to have killed another cop... that was shot in Asbury Park as well.

Welcome to the Dollhouse- West Caldwell, NJ

A lesser known film to many, but one of my favorites!

Same director has used Livingston and Monmouth Junction in some of his other films.

Cliffside Park, NJ. the house they used for the filming was actually owned by one of my relatives.

also, Guess Who was partially filmed in Madison according to imdb.com. Also a scene of The Family Stone (Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Dermont Mulroney) was filmed at Waverly Place in Madison, that I know for a fact. Madison was used in a variety of films.

Also, Artie Lange's Beer League was filmed in New Jersey. The only town I recognized was Seaside Heights.
