I second that.

I am sure that somewhere in here somebody explained this, but what exactly does this mean?

It's the percentage of people who test positive for the virus, of those overall who have been tested.

e.g. for every 100,000 tests: 2,132 were positive.

Anything under 3% is considered "low", which suggests enough widespread, aggressive testing to detect most new cases. Identifying and isolating new cases can help contain COVID without resorting to lockdowns.

3% - 10% is considered "medium".
10% - 20% is considered "high".
20% - 40% is considered "critical".

During NJ's peak, in mid-April, spot positivity was 64%.

Our town has been vigorously debating the reopenings (business and now school) on its Facebook page. I can’t cut and paste from there, and can’t ppst the screenshot from my phone to here, so forgive the rephrasing.

One guy works for an airline and has been flying throughout the pandemic. He says out of 90,000 employees, they has 10 deaths. That’s 0.00011. He also said the infection rate for flight attendants is 0.1 %, and questions how teachers, who will be with the same group of people every day would be more at risk than the flight attendants who are in an enclosed air system with different people every day, multiple times a day in some cases.

The teachers union want thier members to get paid for doing as little work as possible. Thats because some members dont wanna commute, handle kids and other work stresses associated with in person instruction.Virtue learning stresses are BS compared to in person instruction. Other members are genuinely vulnerable to COVID. Read between the lines, they wanna keep up this partial vacation as long as possible as long as they are getting paid. Run through it logically and based upon the human exprience.... and thats one of the few conclusions i can come up with.

From Gov. Murphy today --

Quote:
This weekend, we saw enhanced compliance at numerous Jersey Shore outdoor bars and clubs, to ensure proper social distancing among patrons, and those waiting to get in.

Thank you to management and patrons for stepping up.

We know this problem isn’t fixed.

At places like Headliner in Neptune City: few masks, and lax social distancing in line.

Anyone here could’ve spread this virus before they even set foot at the bar. This must stop.

I want to give a shout out to the North Wildwood Police for their action this weekend, to shut down the bar Tiki Topz, and to cite the bar management for noncompliance, as they and their patrons weren’t taking this pandemic seriously.

I cannot stress this enough – the overwhelming number of establishments and customers are doing the right thing.

It’s the knuckleheads who think the rules don’t apply to them, or who think this pandemic isn’t serious, or that it’s over, who ruin it for everyone.

We will continue to monitor this closely, in partnership with local law enforcement, and we will not hesitate to take action against those who think they can revert back to bad practices after a week or two.
