Today --

Hospitalizations: 695

Rt = 1.35

Spot Positivity = 2.15%

Also: as of the latest available hospital data, there were no in-hospital deaths reported over the 24-hour period ending 10:30 PM last night.
This is the first time this has happened since March 10th.

Still moving in the right direction in general. There were close to 700 new cases reported today, but I firmly believe much of that is from the backlog lab data last week. The Rt rate is literally a made up number based on conpliance and other data points. There seems to be no math equation used to figure the Rt (rate of transmission).

Yeah, this concerns me as well. I did lots of research because I really wanted to know how it is calculated. A lot of people have no intellectual curiosity and just take whatever the state says without asking how they got there. The state has a very fancy data dashboard but it doesn't tell you anything useful. John Hopkins is where I go for the COVID information. Tells you much more useful information.

To say the rate of transmission increased due to house parties in a state with a population of 8.8 million is completely absurd.

The rate of transmission number is a joke. No way should a number with that level of estimation be used to drive policy. I’m PO’d at myself for not looking into it myself and needing others to point out to me exactly what it is. (Or isn’t, more accurately.)

For anyone out and about today, particularly by the Jersey Shore where I am.. There is Tornado warning out right now. Be careful. Heavy rain, and yes wind...

Wear your mask, so the COVID in the rain and evaporating water doesn't hide on your door handle and infect you and everyone else within 50 feet. Or, otherwise liquefy on the epidermis, take a lunch break, punch in, then infect through your skin cells and have its buddies in the water join in.

I agree!

Though some guy in Trenton is probably thinking how he can lock down NJ again.

LOL!

Wear your soggy from the rain mask and watch out for the bad "boogievirus" in the rain.
