Don't go with dealers. Especially 99 dollars deal. Be careful, not honest!

You're recommending that consumers should be careful but that they should not be honest?
Hmmmm...

In any event, you are responding to a question that was asked over 5 years ago.
I could be wrong, but I suspect that the OP decided long ago about his/her course of action.

ADT direct hands down. We had a dealer system installed at our last home and the equipment was defective from the second day of install. Dealers are supposed to service the equipment for the first 90 days but they completely gave me the run around and would not send anyone out to fix the beeping. The guy on the phone just told me to power down the system until they could send someone therefore defeating the purpose of owning an alarm!!! They basically tried to wait out the 90 day period so I had to go through ADT direct.

ADT direct uses liscensed electricians I later found out while dealers just use some guy they trained for a week and threw out in the field. They are cheap for a reason! Garbage!

I agree with DVD2929. We are about to become an authorized dealer for ADT in the Intermoutain West, and ADT direct can be expensive compared to the deals a Dealer is motivated to give in order to gain business. It's a close working relationship with ADT and its Dealers, and a very stringent process. Overall, I just recommend going with who you feel comfortable with after you've done some research. At the end of the day, either way, it's an ADT warrantied system.

I've had ADT for 6 years and changed to Simplisafe, I honest think it's better and whole lot cheaper. For one thing the ADT installers do the same thing they wire the keypads all the same way even for the newer devices.

For true home security you should never allow someone else to install your sensors because burglers are familiar with ADT setups. You should think about how to design your own security alarm setup so it's not easy to find where the sensors and keypads are. Last ADT is way overpriced for simple home monitoring.
