River Edge, Oradell, Emerson, Allendale, Harrington Park and Norwood. Some areas in Bergen County are insanely high but I think these towns might be a good start. There is a website you can browse New Jersey MLS, Search for Homes in Northern New Jersey. Click search properties and click Bergen County. I remembering seeing a house in Allendale for $399,900. Good Luck!
I live in Bergen County.. I can tell you the school systems here are top of the line, and i would definately look into them if i were you. However, it may be a bit pricey in some areas (Franklin Lakes as an example) but i am sure you can find something. Good luck

Check out Somerset County - about the halfway point between NYC and Philly. You can find nice homes in your price range with good schools.

Best of luck and welcome to the Garden State.
