The state will have to work on the bordering cities of Irvington and East Orange before Western Newark can even dream of getting better. It's mostly the East Ward of the city that has improving dramatically (Forest Hill/Mt Prospect/Ironbound/University Heights).
Irvington is a complete *hit hole that is not showing any signs of improvement. I believe it's on a level with Camden in terms of crime (not as rundown though)--- East Orange has been doing better but it still has a ways to go.
Newark is not a big city. It's only 23 square miles, so even if the crime rate is improving, the amounts of crimes per square mile isn't a attractive figure to look at. I like where I live in Newark but most people outside the CD world don't know worth a dime about the city as a whole. Hell, most people in general, even in the CD world, don't know anything more than the negative hype.
That would have made my day, and if anything would encourage me to live there. What Newark really needs, is for the people who live there to start caring.
Yup, i dont get what the problem is/was?
