What towns in the southern part of NJ would you consider upscale and desirable for year round family living with good schools. Would like to be closer to the beaches or near state parks.

Hm. You'll probably find the best school districts closer to NYC and Philadelphia.

Pt. Pleasant has a good school district.

Upscale and near the shore? Rumson, Fair Haven, Sea Girt, Spring Lake. I hope you've got lots of $$, since all of those towns are extremely pricey......

You did say Southern and the recommendations are nowhere near the southern part of the state.
Cape May is a beautiful town, but don't know anything about the school district. You can go online and get state and national ratings of schools and their test scores. Several good sites are given here in the ads under your message.

Default Consider Ocean City and Upper Township

Ocean City. The schools are good. The experience is second to none! Where else do students "run the boardwalk" for gym class? Where else can you see the surf out of the classroom windows? OCHS receives students from a few other beach towns as well as Upper Township on the mainland. Consider living in Upper.

Cape May students attend Lower Cape May Regional High School, including students from Cape May and Lower Township. IMO, neither its academics nor the experience of attending there is on par with OC.

In Atlantic County, Mainland Regional also enjoys a good reputation.

Depends on what one considers "south." Pt. Pleasant Beach has always been recognized as having an excellent school district.
