I don't know there sure seem to be a lot of old people here in Santa Fe and they drive irritatingly slow. I haven't seen pottery supplies in anyone's car though.

I don't think anyone has accused NM as being a redneck state; you'd have to go one more over to the East to get that opinion.

The worst New Mexico misconception ever was breeding Jackalopes.

I thought that silly business about "jackalopes" was native to Texas, but NM is certainly welcome to it.

Jackelopes are a common myth all over the west. I first heard of them in Wyoming back in the early 80s.

My personal misconception is "you mean you all don't live in a run down single wide with old car tires on the roof?????"

you think they drive slow: try living or visiting in Bella Vista AR. All of Ar is filled with either slow drivers or people from other states that think every street is a freeway but BV is the worst. We are far from young and far from speed demons, but the only thing we hate around here are the slow drivers.

Even my borther, in So Ca (who will soon be moving to Williams AZ) talks about the jackalopes he shoots when he hunts. Yes, it is part of the SW myth.
