One thing I am missing very much right now about living in Albuquerque is autumn / Lobos' football. Last night (Thursday, 10.25) I was able to go to a nice local Milwaukee sports bar and watch the Lobos play the Air Force Academy on a Thursday night televised game live from University Stadium.
Wow, was it cool to feel like I was "at home" in watching a game live from Albuquerque! Great shots of the mountains, the moon over the mountains, and the fans (people of ABQ).
What a great win for the Lobos' program! AFA is a good, good team this year. The Lobos are now 6-2, by themselves in 2nd place in their conference, Bowl eligible, and playing great football. They are really doing the Albuquerqueans proud.
Then, it was neat at a break seeing new bball coach Steve Alford being interviewed. It seems like Alford is really embracing his new area / University and has generated a nice little buzz in NM about rejuvinated Lobo hoops.
Go Lobos! I think Rocky Long deserves a team that can compete for the conference title for the rest of the year.
I was fortunate enough to meet coach Alford and coach Neal at a golf tournament recently. They are going to do great things for Lobo basketball! And since you've been gone EnjoyEP, the University has guaranteed $25M for renovations to The Pit, and another $20M for renovations at University Stadium. Both of which will start after the 2007-08 season. Exciting times indeed.
